Murray State Tennis Goes Down To The Wire With Chattanooga

The Murray State Racers ended the road weekend with a 4-3 loss at the when they took on the Chattanooga Mocs.

The Racers won their fourth doubles set of the season in the match played Monday evening at the Guerry Tennis Center in Chattanooga, Tennessee, but fell to 2-5 this spring. The Mocs improved to 7-3.

The MSU pair of Anja Loncarevic and Amina Hadzic defeated the duo of Caroline Hall and Mckenzie Barco 6-3, while Racers’ players Alina Schibol and Claire Chang beat UTC’s Samantha Caswell and Rachele Gazzola 6-3 to give the Racers the doubles point in the match.

The Mocs took the lead away from the Racers with three straight singles wins. MSU’s Chang dropped a 3-6, 1-6 final before Sara Bjork fell 6-4, 6-2. Sara Loncarevic pushed her match to the third set where she lost 4-6, 6-3, 2-6. MSU’s Schibol gave the Racers another chance when she won a three-setter 4-6, 6-3, 7-5. But Chattanooga won the match when Caroline Hall defeated Racer sophomore Hadzic in three sets, 6-1, 5-7, 5-7. Anja Loncarevic won her match in three sets with a 6-1, 5-6, 7-5 victory.

MSU’s next contest is in St. Louis, Missouri (March 8) against the Billikens of Saint Louis University
