Louisville Women’s Swimming and Diving to Send Eight to NCAAs Plus Five Relays

The NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Committee announced today the swimmers who qualified for the 2017 NCAA Division I Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships. The championships will be held March 15-18 at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, Indiana. Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis and Indiana Sports Corp will serve as co-hosts.

The University of Louisville has eight swimmers who have qualified for a total of 16 events. The Cardinals qualified all five relays as well. UofL divers are competing at Zones in Bloomington, Ind. this week to try to secure a spot to the Championships.

Rachael Bradford Feldman (400 IM, 200 breast), Mallory Comerford (500 free, 200 free, 100 free), Andrea Cottrell (100 breast, 200 breast), Casey Fanz (50 free, 100 free), Abigail Houck (200 Free, 200 fly), Alina Kendzior (100 back, 200 back), Grace Oglesby (100 fly, 200 fly) and Lainey Visscher (100 free) will make the trip to Indianapolis. Additional relay swimmers may include Sophie Cattermole, Alex Sellers, Avery Braunecker, Nastja Govejsek and Grace Long depending on scratches.

Mallory Comerford is seeded second in the 100 free, third in the 200 free and 10th in the 500 fly. Andrea Cottrell is seeded fifth in the 100 breast and seventh for the 200 breast.

A total of 322 participants (281 swimmers and 41 divers) will compete in the championships. Swimmers qualified for the championships by meeting the established minimum time for the events in which they entered. Divers will be determined by performances at the Zone Diving Meets held March 6-11. The complete list of swimmers competing in the championships is available at www.usaswimming.org/ncaa. Selected divers will be announced Sunday, March 12.

ESPN3.com will stream the championships finals sessions live on Friday and Saturday. Wednesday’s evening session, Thursday’s sessions along with the morning sessions on Friday and Saturday will be streamed live on NCAA.com and indianasportscorp.org/ncaasd. Additionally, ESPNU will air a two-hour broadcast via tape delay at 7 p.m. Eastern time, Tuesday, March 28. Live results for the championships will be available on NCAA.com.
