NKU men’s golf to play in Horizon League-foe’s Wright State Invitational

With the stretch run of the 2017 spring season in full swing, the Northern Kentucky men’s golf team will participate Wright State Invitational at the Miami Valley Golf Club in Dayton, Ohio, April 3-4.

Norse Lineup
Cory Dulle, Jacob Poore, Matt Wetherill, Jacob Jackson, Jacob Brinker and Logan Gamm will represent Northern Kentucky at the tournament, which features the unusual format with six-member teams that have five countable scores. Landon Osborne, Jackson Frame and Byron Speach are competing as individuals.

Pooring It On
Poore has been sensational for the Norse in the last three outings, recording two top-10 efforts in that span. In both the Invitational at Savannah Harbor and Cape Fear National Intercollegiate, the sophomore finished in eighth-place ties. All three rounds at Savannah Harbor were shot at par or better.

Tournament Tidbits
This marks the third-straight year NKU has competed in the Wright State Invitational. The Norse finished second two-years ago after tying Valparaiso through 54-holes and conceding in the first hole of sudden-victory playoff. They then came in fourth last season.

In addition to serving as a primer for the upcoming Horizon League Championship, the tournament has a distinctive league flavor. Valpo returns this year and Green Bay is also lined up to compete in the nine-team field. Dayton, Northwestern, Loyola-Chicago, Wittenberg and Chicago State are fielding teams as well.

The par-71 Miami Valley Golf Club is set to play at 6,666-yards. Live stats are available via Birdie Fire.
