Multiple Kentucky track and field relay teams produced the solid early-season performances they travelled to the Florida Relays in search of on Saturday to conclude the three-day meet.
The Wildcats concluded the 2017 Florida Relays with a coveted relay win, multiple elite marks and two more individual-event wins.
To begin the afternoon the mile sprint medley relay of Precious Hitchcock, Kayelle Clarke, Kiah Seymour and Michelle McKinney defended UK’s Florida Relays title in the event (200m, 200m, 400m, 800m) in 3:48.79. Kentucky has won the Florida Relays women’s SMR three of the last four years.
The UK women’s 4x100m relay of Javianne Oliver, Jasmine Camacho-Quinn, Destiny Carter and Kianna Gray finished third in the college section in 43.17. UK ran that lineup, which placed fifth at the NCAA Championships last season, for the first time this season. They ran the fourth fastest in school history.
The 43.17 time ranks fifth in the country this early season accounting for results from the Texas Relays on Saturday.
Both UK’s men’s and women’s 4x400m relays ran season-best times as well.
UK’s men’s 4×4 of Fred Dorsey, Victor Oye, Nick Anderson and Daniel Roberts ran 3:09.36 to place fourth in the college division.
Then, Kianna Gray, Kiah Seymour, Destiny Carter and Kayelle Clarke combined to run the second fastest 4x400m relay in school history: 3:30.24 to place fifth in the elite Tom Jones division.
Kentucky’s women’s distance medley relay of Caroline McCaslin, Jacklyn Howell, Jill Weston and Katy Kunc ran 11:37.79 to place fourth.
Noah Castle won the college division shot put with a season-best 57’11″/17.65m and Charles Lenford Jr. was third with a mark of 56’5.25″/17.20m.
Marie-Josée Ebwea-Bile improved upon her triple jump outdoor personal-best as a collegian, a mark she recorded two weeks ago en route to Southeastern Conference Field Athlete of the Week honors. She placed third with a mark of 43’3.25”/13.19m (+0.3) to solidify her place at No. 2 on the UK all-time performers’ list.
Tim Duckworth placed fifth in the pole vault with a clearance at 16’7.5”/5.07m.
