Louisville sends Molly Fears to USA Diving FINA World Championships Individual Trials

The University of Louisville diving team is sending Molly Fears to the 2017 USA Diving FINA World Championships Individual Trials on May 19-21.The women’s 3-meter event will boast the largest number of competitors with 30 women set to dive. The field includes 2016 Olympian Kassidy Cook as well as seven additional members from the 2017 High Performance Squad (five from Tier 1, two from Tier 2).

Freshman Molly Fears an ACC and NCAA qualifier, will represent the Cardinals at IUPUI Natatorium in Indianapolis.

In order to be able to compete, divers must have scored at or above a certain score in at least one previous USA Diving event or NCAA event. Divers competing in the platform event must have registered a score of 275 in either a USA Diving or NCAA event. Divers that are competing in the 3-meter event must have registered a score of 270 at a USA Diving event or a 324 at a NCAA event.

Fears qualified for the 3-meter diving event when she finished ninth at the 2017 NCAA Zone C Meet.

The top-two qualifiers in each event will be selected to the 2017 USA World Championship team which will compete in the World Championships that will be held in Budapest, Hungary on July 14-22.
