Thomas More Baseball Defeats Bethany, 7-3

he Thomas More College baseball team rallied to defeat Bethany College, 7-3, today (Saturday, May 6, 2017) in a Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) single nine-inning game at Thomas More Field in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.

With the win, the Saints improve to 25-9 overall and 14-6 in the PAC. With the loss, the Bison fall to 13-21-1 overall and 7-13 in the PAC.

Thomas More took a 1-0 lead in the fifth inning and Bethany answered with three runs in the seventh to build a 3-1 lead. The Saints responded with four run in the seventh and two in the eighth to win the game 7-3.

Senior pitcher Logan Miller (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle) had a no-decision as he pitched six shutout innings and gave up two hits, while striking out seven. Sophomore pitcher Jonathan Breeden (Erlanger, Ky./Dixie Heights) earned the win as he pitched one and a third shutout innings of relief and gave up only one hit.

Senior center fielder Casey Metzger (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) led the Saints’ offense as he was three-for-five with a double, a run scored and two runs batted-in. Two other Saints had multiple hits in the game as junior designated hitter Tanner Wolfe (Cincinnati, Ohio/New Richmond) was two-for-three with two runs scored and senior third baseman Bailey Abbatiello (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle) was two-for-one with a run scored and a RBI.

The Saints and Bison close out their three-game series tomorrow with a doubleheader starting at 12 p.m. at Thomas More Field. Thomas More will honor its seven senior student-athletes prior to first pitch at 11:45 a.m.
