Similar to Day 1 of the NCAA East Preliminaries, weather delays took place at the UK Outdoor Track and Field Complex throughout the afternoon, however, WKU Track and Field found its rhythm and earned another ticket to Eugene in the 4x400m relay.

The relay squad of Emmanuel Dasor, Austin Hayes, Ventavius Sears and Maor Seged sprinted a season-best time of 3:05.07, marking the fifth-straight year that the Hilltoppers have had a relay go to Nationals. The 4x100m relay team turned in a time of 39.80 to place 16th.

“I am extremely proud of the individuals who competed over the last few days,” shared head coach Erik Jenkins. “They have again represented WKU at the highest level of NCAA competition.”

In field events, Sears finished 39th with a mark of 14.72m (48’3.5”) in the triple jump and Desmond Mobley cleared a height of 2.00m (6’6.75”) in the high jump to finish 36th. Jenessa Jackson tallied a throw of 14.32m (46’11.75”) to place 42nd in the shot put.

Individually on the track, Jonathan Hayden crossed the finish line in 14.02 seconds in the 110m hurdles, finishing in 19th place.

In total, the Hilltoppers will be sending one relay team and three student-athletes to Nationals – Dasor (400m), Julius Morris (100m) and Sears (long jump).

WKU will be back in action on June 7-10 in Eugene, Ore., at Hayward Field for the National Championships.
