As more University of Louisville women’s golfers ascend into the professional ranks, it only seems fitting that a pair of former Cardinals would meet in a tournament.

Former standouts Sara-Maude Juneau and Laura Restrepo are competing in the inaugural Donald Ross Centennial Classic (par 71, 6,431 yards) from Friday through Sunday at French Lick Resort in French Lick, Ind. Play will tee off at 7:30 a.m. ET all three days. There will be a cut made to the low 60 and ties following second round play on Saturday.

The tournament is part of the Symetra Tour, the official qualifying Tour of the LPGA, and features 144 of the top rising stars in the game of women’s golf from the United States and 30 countries around the globe.

Juneau has 16 career top-10 finishes on the Symetra Tour. The Quebec, Canada, native played at Louisville from 2007-11, registering the second-best stroke average in school history at 74.06. She collected 17 top-10 finishes, including winning the 2010 BIG EAST individual title, and a school-record 40 rounds even or below par. She is the program’s only two-time All-American, earning the distinctions in 2010 and 2011.

Restrepo, who starred at Louisville from 2012-16, has made two starts on the Symetra Tour and made the cut in one of them. The Panama City native earned an exemption to play in the event. A three-time all-conference selection, including the first all-ACC honoree in school history, she capped her career at Louisville with 16 top-10 finishes and a 74.16-stroke average, fourth best in program annals.

The players will battle for a $200,000 tournament purse, the second largest on Tour, and the winner will earn $30,000. This is a pivotal event as the winner’s payout could go a long way in determining who earns an LPGA Tour card for the 2018. The top 10 on the final Volvik Race for the Card money list earn LPGA Tour membership for the 2018 season.
