It’s hard to believe, but the 2017-18 Kentucky Athletics calendar year is underway once again.

We’re excited about being back on the floor and getting the season underway as we make a run at a school-record 13th-consecutive NCAA appearance and compete for a league title. Before I give you a little insight on the talented team we have, I personally want to challenge each and every one of you to try your hand at mastering what we do on the court.

I want to challenge YOU to a volleyball-skills competition. We would love for you to join us Monday, Aug. 14th at 2 p.m. for a Volleyball Media Day followed by a Media Skills competition that will entail serving, receiving a serve, blocking and attacking. Did I mention there will be prizes for our top competitors?

We have an exciting team that features some familiar faces, including two-time reigning SEC Libero of the Year Ashley Dusek, SEC Freshman of the Year and third-team All-American Leah Edmond as well as nationally-recognized middle blocker Kaz Brown. We’ll welcome four talented newcomers who make up the No. 5 recruiting class in the country.

Following media day and the skills competition on Monday, I encourage you to stick around to watch the team in action and grab audio and footage.

I look forward to seeing you out there and in Memorial Coliseum covering our team this season.

Please RSVP to Deb Moore ( for your participation in the skills challenge by Monday at 9 a.m. ET.
