The Thomas More College women’s soccer will enter the season ninth in the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III Women’s preseason ranking.
The United Soccer Coaches, formerly the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), released its preseason rankings August 4.
Washington University in St. Louis (19-2-3), last year’s NCAA Division III champion, claimed the top spot.
Fourth-ranked Thomas More suffered a 3-1 loss to the 11th-ranked University of Chicago in the third round of the Division III Championship last season.
Thomas More, 22-1-1 a year ago, advanced to its seventh NCAA Division III Championship while making its sixth-consecutive appearance. The Saints have moved on to at least the third round in each of the last four Division III Championship events.
Thomas More won its sixth-straight Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship Tournament title with a 1-0 win over Grove City College at BB&T Field last November.
The Saints open their season September 1 against Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology at Franklin College at 6 p.m.
