Select members of the University of Louisville men’s tennis team are gearing up for their third weekend of the fall season with a trip to the University of Florida’s Alfred A. Ring Tennis Complex for the Ranked +1 Tournament. The three-day tournament is slated to begin at 9 a.m. on Friday.

“We will be playing our third elite tournament in three weekends,” said UofL head coach Rex Ecarma. “My players are all getting an opportunity to play other top players and to get nationally ranked. We don’t avoid top programs. We go to where they are playing so we can be an elite school too.”

The Cardinals will be represented by junior Christopher Morin-Kougoucheff, sophomore Parker Wynn, senior Nicholas Rouanet and juniors Federico Gomez and Brandon Lancaster.

The Ranked +1 Tournament format allows competing teams to bring players ranked inside of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Top 125 preseason rankings, as well as one additional athlete per ranked team-member. The tournament will feature competitors from North Florida, Wake Forest, South Carolina, Illinois, Tennessee, Tulane and Mississippi State.

Morin-Kougoucheff stands at No. 74 in the ITA singles rankings while Wynn is No. 90. The two players open the preseason at No. 29 in the national doubles rankings.

The tournament will begin with the opening doubles round at 9 a.m. on Friday followed by two rounds of singles play. Quarterfinals and consolation matches will be played throughout the final two days of competition.
