A trip to Verona, New York, for the Turning Stone-Tiger Intercollegiate is on tap for the Northern Kentucky men’s golf team, kicking off its third-straight season in Missouri’s tournament. The 54-hole event runs Sept. 3-4.
Junior Jacob Poore opens the season as the team’s number one. He will be joined by by fellow veterans Jackson Frame and Logan Gamm, a senior and junior, respectively. Newcomers Ty Debonis and Jacob Vrolijk round out NKU’s five-man team. Senior Byron Speach is competing unattached.
A Deeper Dive
The returning trio of Poore , Gamm and Frame will be familiar with Turning Stone Resort’s Kaluhyat course. This marks the third-straight year Poore has competed in the event, while Gamm and Frame are returning for the second time each.
Poore led Northern Kentucky last year with a 73.88 stroke-per-round average, with 13 of his 32 rounds being scored at par or better.
Northern Kentucky is one of 15 teams competing in the event., joining host Missouri, Villanova, Boston College, Western Carolina, Bucknell, UNC-Wilmington, Binghampton, St. Peter’s, Cleveland State, Youngstown State, Sacred Heart, VCU, Alabama State and Detroit Mercy.
The Kaluhyat course is par-72 and plays at 6,882-yards.
