For the third year in a row, the Northern Kentucky women’s golf team hosts the NKU Fall Classic. The tournament features 14 teams and is set to be contested at Elks Run Golf Course in Batavia, Ohio, Sept. 11-12.
All nine Norse will compete in the event. Shelby Power leads NKU’s scoring quintet, which also includes Macy Wright, Kylie Lysack, Lillian Young and Erin Durstock. Mimi Cheepborisut, Kathryn Doss, Kelsey Wessels and Amy Pugliano are competing unattached.
Young Norse Establishing Themselves
After Northern Kentucky graduate five seniors from last year’s team, Northern Kentucky has a young corps of golfers cutting their teeth in the early going of the season. Senior Shelby Power and junior Macy Wright bring a wealth of experience, but with four sophomores and two freshmen on the roster the Norse are building experience in the early portion of the season.
Fourteen teams are set to compete in the NKU Fall Classic, with Austin Peay, Belmont, Chicago State, Dayton, Detroit Mercy, Eastern Illinois, Fort Wayne, Green Bay, UIC, Morehead State, Oakland, Tennessee Tech and UNC Asheville joining Northern Kentucky in the event.
NKU’s home course, Elk’s Run, hosts the event once again. An 8 a.m. shotgun start will begin action on both Monday and Tuesday, with 36 holes being played on day one and 18 holes on day two.
