Thomas More College women’s tennis team shut out Thiel College, 9-0, in its home opener today (Friday, Sept. 15, 2017). With the win, the Saints more to 2-1 and 1-0 in conference play, and with the loss the Tomcats dropped to 1-2.

First years, Matison Perry and Hannah Lowman really stood out in the match overcoming deficits and going on to win in their singles competitions. Lowman went 4-6, 6-1 in the first two sets and winning the tie breaker 10-8 in the third set and overcoming a 6-3 deficit in the third set super tie breaker. Perry defeated her opponent 6-1, 7-6 and overcame a 5-2 game deficit in her second set, and went on to win in a traditional tie breaker 7-4. Sophomore Brooke Warden beat her opponent in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0. Sarah Fellinger also won in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0.

Thomas More also dominated doubles competition going 3-0. Partners Warden and Lowman defeated Thiel’s Emily Barton and Allyson Stanley 8-0. Nicole Capodagli and Fellinger defeated Emily Maxheimer and Marquett Samules 8-1. Duo Lacey Pohlman and Perry defeated Angela Campbell and Shyann Foreman 8-3.

Thomas More is back in action tomorrow for another home match, Saturday Sept. 16, 2017 against Grove City College. The match will be played at Covington Catholic High School set to start at 10 am.
