The Thomas More College women’s soccer team defeated Kalamazoo College, 1-0, today (Thursday, September 28, 2017) in a non-conference match at MacKenzie Field in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

With the win the Saints improve to 5-3-1 and with the loss, the Hornets fall to 6-5-0.

Sophomore forward Mariah Gilbert (Trenton, Ohio/Edgewood) scored match’s lone goal at the 41:16 mark off an assist from first-year forward Ashley Maples (Springboro, Ohio/Archbishop Alter).

First-year goalkeeper Kylie Anderson (Florence, Ky./Boone County) earned her first collegiate shutout win as she played all 90 minutes and had five saves.

Kalamazoo had a 10-5 advantage in shots, but the Saints won the battle of corner kicks, 6-3.

Thomas More returns to action on Saturday (September 30) when it travels to Grove City, Pennsylvania to play Grove City in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) opener for both teams. The match is scheduled for 1 p.m.
