After a two-win weekend for the Kentucky women’s soccer team, the Wildcats will have a home and away weekend for the second time this season as they host Lipscomb on Friday night in Lexington before traveling south to Knoxville to open up Southeastern Conference play on Rocky Top against the undefeated Volunteers.
Friday night’s match will air live on the SEC Network+, ESPN3 and the WatchESPN app with Dave Baker (pxp) and former Kentucky All-American Stuart Pope (color) on the call from the Bell Soccer Complex.
Sunday night’s SEC opener will be shown live on ESPNU with Mike Watts (pxp) and former UNC standout and All-American Cat Whitehill (color) on the call from Knoxville.
Kentucky is back to .500 on the season after sweeping the weekend in shutout fashion against Western Illinois (1-0) and at Ohio (3-0). The Wildcats held WIU without a single shot in the match (27-0) on Friday night in the win before going up to Athens and picking up their first non-conference road win over the Bobcats in over a year.
The Wildcats are still battling the injury bug as of late, with four starters out – but hope to have some of those effected players healthy in time for the weekend’s pair of matches.
Live stats will be available on UKathletics.com and live in-match updates can be found by following @UKWomansSoccer on Twitter and Instagram.

Friday night will be “Kick Cancer” night at the Wildcat soccer stadium. All game-worn jerseys will be auctioned off online following the game. All proceeds from the jerseys will be donated to Dance Blue, a student organization dedicated to raising money and awareness for childhood cancer.
Under the direction of head coach Kevin O’Brian, the Bison enter the weekend with a 2-4-2 over-all with this weekend serving as the final non-conference weekend for Lipscomb. The bison have already played three SEC teams, with a 0-2-1 record against the league. Lipscomb went undefeated in the preseason, taking down ETSU at home 3-1 and Belmont on the road 2-0. Friday night will be the first meeting of Lipscomb and Kentucky in program history.
Lead by head coach Brian Pensky, the Volunteers are off to their best start in program history with an 8-0-0 record and coming fresh off the 3-1 win over Virginia Tech on Sunday night. The team is lead in goals this season by Khadija Shaw with six. Sunday will mark the 27th all-time meeting between the Volunteers and the Wildcats with the series evenly split, 12-12-2. Tennessee has not beaten Kentucky since the 2011 season, when the Vols took one from UK in the SEC Tournament.
