Freshmen Jessica Lazo and Eva Mitchell each scored in addition to senior Katy Keen on Sunday afternoon as the Kentucky women’s soccer team posted its second clean sheet in a row, blanking the Ohio Bobcats 3-0 on Sunday afternoon.
The Wildcats outshot the Bobcats 19-6 on the day and earned six corner kicks in the match. Kentucky got a goal in the first half from Lazo, the first of her career, in the 30th minute to put UK up 1-0.
UK would take that 1-0 lead into the break before dominating the second half. The game was put to rest in the 78th minute as Eva Mitchell scored her third of the season and second in as many matches on a serve and finish from Taya Edwards – who got her first-career point as a Wildcat.
Kentucky added a third in the 82nd minute through the boot of Keen – who was sensational all weekend for the Wildcats, and specifically on Sunday. Keen took a long-range shot from far out and put it past the keeper to put UK up 3-0.
The win for UK is its second in a row. The Wildcats are now back to .500 on the season after navigating a brutal non-conference schedule – and have a chance to finish above .500 in non-conference play on Friday night. Kentucky will host Lipscomb on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. ET at the Bell Soccer Complex. The match will be shown live on the SEC Network+, ESPN3 and the WatchESPN app.
