The Campbellsville football team slipped just one spot after suffering its first loss of the season. The Tigers are now ranked 21st in the NAIA Football Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, the national office announced on Monday afternoon.

 

Campbellsville dropped its first game of the season last Saturday in double-overtime to ninth-ranked Georgetown College, 31-24. In the ranking this week Campbellsville earned 73 total voting points.

 

The Tigers continue their toughest stretch of the season playing two more ranked teams over the final two weeks of the season.

 

Lindsey Wilson College leads all Mid-South Conference Bluegrass Division teams in the poll at No. 5 with 287 total points. Georgetown College held at ninth in the ranking after earning 237 voting points in the national poll. Lindsey Wilson and Georgetown are both unbeaten on the season and lead the division with a mark of 4-0. Both teams face off on Saturday in Columbia, Ky.

 

Cumberland University is the final divisional team in the top 25. The Phoenix are 22nd in the rating with 57 points. Campbellsville and Cumberland faceoff this week in the Tigers’ final home game of the regular season.

 

Reinhardt University leads all MSC team in the ranking at No. 3 with 342 points. Bluefield College also represents the Appalachian Division in the receiving votes section of the poll. Southeastern University is ranked 12th to represent the Sun Division with 191 voting points. Faulkner University is also receiving votes to round out the Sun Division and MSC teams in the ranking.

 

University of St. Francis earned all 15 first-place votes and 340 points to lead the national rating. Baker University is second overall with 327 points, while Morningside College is the final team in the top five at No. 4 with 303 total points.

 

Campbellsville returns to action Saturday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. ET against No. 22 Cumberland at Finley Stadium.

 

The next regular season ranking is set to be announced on Monday, Nov. 6.
