Eastern Kentucky University’s women’s golf team finished tied for third at the Bill Berg Invitational hosted by Western Carolina University and junior Elsa Moberly placed second overall.
EKU shot its best round of the tournament on Tuesday (305) and tied for third with High Point with a 54-hole total of 927. Richmond (910) won by 14 shots over second place Winthrop (924).
The Colonels beat fifth place Marshall (932) and a pair of Ohio Valley Conference teams – Tennessee Tech (10th) and Morehead State (14th).
The 15-team event was contested at The Ridges Country Club, a par-72, 6,057-yard course.
Moberly shot rounds of 1-under 71 and 74 on Monday before concluding with a final round 77 on Tuesday. Her total of 222 was just one shot behind individual medalist Maiken Bing Paulsen (221) of Presbyterian College.
Amanda Lindahl (231) tied for 15th overall. Hannabeth Owens (234) tied for 23rd and Mikayla Hauck (240) placed 45th.
The Colonels will conclude the fall portion of their 2017-18 schedule on Oct. 30-31 at the Idle Hour Collegiate Championship hosted by Mercer University in Macon, Georgia.
