The Murray State women’s golf team are competing in the best field they’ll see in the fall season at the at the Cardinal Cup. The 54-hole event is being played at the University of Louisville Golf Club in Simpsonville, Kentucky and the Racers are in ninth place after the first day of play.
The Racers carded a score of 313 in the morning round, but improved by eight shots with a 297 in the afternoon. MSU’s 606 total trailed eighth place Toledo (601), seventh place Memphis (596) and sixth place Wisconsin (590). The Racers were ahead of 10th place Louisville B (610) and 11th place Kentucky (612).
The Racers had a pair of players in the top-25 of the 82-player field. Linnette Holmslykke carded scores of 75-74=149 to share 25th place with teammate Moa Folke 78-71=149. Folke’s 1-under-par 71 in the afternoon was Murray State’s best round of the day.
The rest of MSU’s team included Lucila Puente Rodriguez de Austria and Anna Moore sharing 40th place. Puente had scores of 77-77=154 and Moore had rounds of the same. Raeysha Surendran had a spot in 69th place on scores of 80-80-160. Jane Watts was second among the 00 individuals in the field and was 48th overall after scores of 82-73=155.
Sunday’s final round commences at 8:15 a.m. Central Time with a shotgun start.
