For the second time this season, Murray State junior kicker Gabriel Vicente has been named as the OVC Specialist of the Week, the league office announced Sunday.

The Miami, Florida native accounted for over half of Murray State’s points Saturday in the Racers’ 13-10 win over No. 25 UT Martin. The junior put the first points by either team on the board in the second when knocked down a 22-yarder. In the fourth, he tied the game at 10 with an extra point in the middle of a downpour with the ball being held by a backup holder.

After having missed his first field goal of the season in the third, a 41-yarder into the wind, Vicente was all business in the fourth as he split the uprights, again in the rain, with a 32-yarder as time expired to give his team the upset win.

This is Vicente’s second OVC honor of the year after first winning on opening weekend. In his first season of football, he has been impressive by going 8-for-9 on field goal attempts with a long of 43 yards. In addition, the junior is still a perfect on PATs this season, converting on all 12 attempts.
