The Thomas More College men’s soccer team shutout Waynesburg University 3-0 today (Saturday, October 7, 2017) in a Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) match at BB&T Field in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.

With the win, the Saints improve to 8-4-1 overall and remain undefeated in the PAC at 3-0. With the loss, the Yellow Jackets fall to 4-5-2 overall and 2-1 in the PAC.

The Saints took a 1-0 lead at the 34:47 mark when sophomore midfielder Griffin Garrison (Cincinnati, Ohio/McNicholas) found the back of the net.

Sophomore forward Ethan Smith (Columbus, Ind./Columbus North) increased the lead to 2-0 when he scored in the 51st minute. Thomas More closed out the scoring in the 64th minute when first-year midfielder Bryce Day (Edgewood, Ky./Covington Catholic) scored unassisted for the final score of 3-0.

Junior goalkeeper Jeff Paulin (Alexandria, Ky./Bishop Brossart) earned the win in goal as he played 78:16 and had four saves. First-year goalkeeper Ben Hudson (New Albany, Ohio/New Albany) played the final 11:44 and didn’t face a shot on-goal.

Thomas More out-shot Waynesburg, 24-8, including 11-4 on-goal and had a 15-3 advantage in corner kicks.

The Saints return to action on Thursday (October 12) when they travel to Latrobe, Pennsylvania to play Saint Vincent College at 2 p.m.
