The Thomas More College women’s golf team shot a first round 371 today (Monday, October 2, 2017) and is in third place at the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship at Avalon Lakes in Warren, Ohio.

The 2017-18 PAC Championships is a 54-hole stroke play event, with 36 holes played at the Fall Championships and another 18 holes played at the Spring Championships in April. The combined 54-hole team total will determine the 2017-18 PAC team champions and winners of the league’s women’s automatic bid to the 2018 NCAA Division III Championships.

The Saints trail Saint Vincent College and Westminster College, who shot a matching 361 in the first round today.

Junior Christie Modafari (Mason, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) led the Saints today as she is in fourth place after carding an 85. Two other Saints are in the Top-15 as junior Sara Jackie (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart Academy) is tied for seventh with a 93 and senior Amber Greene (Catlettsburg, Ky./Fairview) is in 11th place with a 94.

Sophomore Sophia Illokken (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) and sophomore Cora Bradford (Union, Ky./Ryle) are tied for 16th after they each fired a 99.

Saint Vincent’s Sydney Ball leads the individual standings with an 82.

The second round gets underway tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. at Avalon Lakes.
