The Thomas More College women’s soccer team defeated Westminster College, 2-1, today (Tuesday, October 24, 2017) in a Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) match at BB&T Field in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.

With the win, the Saints improve to 12-4-1 overall and 7-1 in the PAC. With the loss, the Titans fall to 10-7 overall and 5-3 in the PAC.

Thomas More took an early 1-0 lead when sophomore forward Olivia Nienaber (Alexandria, Ky./Bishop Brossart) scored unassisted in the eighth minute. Westminster tied the match at 1-1 in the 36th minute when Alexandria Applin found the back of the net.

The Saints took a 2-1 lead in the 67th minute when senior forward Abby Stadtmiller (Alexandria, Ky./Bishop Brossart) scored the eventual game-winning goal off an assist by first-year forward Ashley Maples (Springboro, Ohio/Archbishop Alter).

Sophomore goalkeeper Maddy Kim (California, Ky./Notre Dame Academy) earned the win as she played all 90 minutes and recorded four saves.

Thomas More out-shot Westminster 20-11, including 6-5 on-goal and had a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks.

The Saints close out the regular season on Saturday (October 28) when they travel to Greenville, Pennsylvania to play Thiel College at 11 a.m.
