The Thomas More College women’s tennis team defeated Washington & Jefferson College, 8-1, today (Sunday, October 1, 2017) in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) match on the indoor courts at Five Seasons Sports Club in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.

With the win, the Saints improve to 7-2 overall and 3-1 in the PAC, while the Presidents fall to 5-5 overall and 3-3 in the PAC with the loss.

Thomas More opened the match with a 3-0 sweep of the doubles matches. Sophomore Brooke Ward (Edgewood, Ky./Dixie Heights) and first-year Hannah Lowman (Vine Grove, Ky./North Hardin) won 8-2 at No. 1, the No. 2 tandem of junior Nicole Capodagli (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) and junior Sarah Fellinger (North Bend, Ohio/Taylor) won 8-1 and the pair of sophomore Lacey Pohlman (Fort Thomas, Ky./Highlands) and first-year Madison Perry (Union, Ky./Ryle) won 8-3 at No. 3.

The Saints won five of the six singles matches to cruise to the 8-1 victory. Ward won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1, Lowman won 6-1, 2-6, 1-0 (10-6) at No. 3, Capodagli won 6-1, 6-0, Pohlman won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 4 and Fellinger won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 6.

Thomas More returns to action on Thursday (October 5) when it travels to New Wilmington, Pennsylvania to play Westminster College at 3:30 p.m.
