The Kentucky men’s tennis team will head to Oklahoma State this weekend to begin the ITA Kick-Off Weekend at the Michael and Anne Greenwood Tennis Center.

Kentucky is the No. 4 seed in the event, and will face No. 1 Oklahoma State at 1 p.m. ET on Saturday. The winner will face either No. 2 Mississippi State or No. 3 Wisconsin at 2 p.m. on Sunday. The consolation match will be played at 10 a.m. on Sunday morning.

The winners of the single-elimination event advance to next month’s ITA Division I National Team Indoor Championships. Washington will serve as the host for the National Team Indoors. Host sites for the ITA Kick-Off Weekend were determined using the final 2016-17 Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings. A draft was held to fill the No.’s 2-4 seeds at all locations, using the final national team rankings as a guide to determine draft order.

The Wildcats started the season with a 2-1 record. UK took down Northern Kentucky and Eastern Kentucky to begin the season with 7-0 sweeps. Kentucky lost a close match at Notre Dame, 4-3, in their first road test of the season.

Oklahoma State is 4-0 this season, with wins over Lamar, Bryant, UMKC and Arkansas. The Cowboys have only dropped three points so far this season. OSU was 22-7 last season and are led by two-time All-American Julian Cash.

Mississippi State is 3-0 this season, with wins over UAB, South Florida and Miami (Florida). The Bulldogs have three players ranked in the ITA rankings, including the No. 3 player in the nation in Nuno Borges. No. 29 Giovanni Oradini and No. 54 Strahinja Rakic are also ranked.

Wisconsin is 2-0 so far. UW has 6-1 wins over DePaul and Nebraska – Omaha. The Badgers won the doubles point in both matches this season. Josef Dodridge and Osgar O’Hoisin are the only singles players to pick up losses so far this season.
