The Eastern Kentucky University softball team hits the road for Texas to play mid-week games against Lamar and Houston Baptist.

EKU takes on Lamar on Tuesday and Houston Baptist on Wednesday. First pitch for both is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET.


-EKU (16-5) hosted its first home tournament since 2009 and swept the five games to extend the squad’s streak to 10 games.

-Paige Murphy and Hannah Clark each hit .615 on the weekend. Murphy had two doubles and two home runs while Clark (Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week) had one double and four round-trippers.

-Murphy McRoberts and Mollie Paulick each went 2-0 from the circle.

-Murphy is leading the offensive charge with a .492 batting average on the season while Paulick leads the pitching staff with a 1.97 earned run average.


-Lamar has opened the season with an 11-12 mark, most recently dropping three games to Northwestern State.

· Savana Guidry leads the offensive effort with a .366 average on the season. She has three hits for extra bases.

· Taylor Gruell leads the defensive effort with a 4.06 ERA. She has allowed 45 hits over 50 innings.

-Houston Baptist is 2-11 over its first 13 contests. The Huskies dropped a three-game series to Nicholls State last weekend.

· Nicole Shedd leads HBU in the box, hitting .346 on the year.

· Jessica Patak is hurling a 4.89 ERA to lead the pitching staff.
