The Northern Kentucky University baseball team fell to Wright State on Saturday afternoon by a final score of 14-2. WSU moves to 15-10 on the season and 6-3 in the Horizon League. The Norse are 6-18 overall and 3-6 in league play.
AT THE PLATE
Jake Richmond went 1-for-3 with a solo home run.
Chad Roberts was 1-for-3 with a run scored.
Will Haueter went 1-for-3 with a RBI.
ON THE MOUND
Brody Basilone got the start on the mound for NKU.
Nick Beard, Travis Rowland, Chris Barber and Cal McAninch all pitched out of the bullpen.
Wright State scored seven runs in the top of the fourth to go ahead 7-0.
The Raiders added a run in both the fifth and sixth innings to take a nine-run lead.
Richmond hit a solo home run for the Norse in the bottom of the sixth to make the score 9-1.
Wright State added three runs in the top of the eighth to extend its lead to 12-1.
Haueter hit a double in the bottom of the eighth to allow Roberts to score.
The Raiders crossed the plate twice in the ninth inning to get the 14-2 victory.
Wright State had 18 hits in the contest, and NKU had five.
The Norse committed three errors in the field, and WSU had none.
The Raiders stranded 11 runners, and the Norse left six on base.
NKU will play at Butler on Tuesday, April 3. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
