Ragnhildur Kristinsdottir was chosen as the Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Year and three Colonels were selected to the All-Ohio Valley Conference Team, the league announced tonight at its annual awards banquet held in conjunction with the 2018 OVC Championship at The Shoals on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail in Muscle Shoals, Alabama.
Juniors Elsa Moberly and Amanda Lindahl, and sophomore Hannabeth Owens were chosen to the 10-member All-OVC Team. EKU’s three all-conference selections ties the single season program record, also set in 2014 and 2016. Kristinsdottir was also selected to the six-member All-OVC Newcomer Team.
Kristinsdottir joins Lindahl (2016) as Eastern Kentucky’s only two OVC Freshman of the Year award winners.
Eastern and Murray State combined to place seven players on the All-OVC Team.
Moberly leads the team and is second in the conference with a 74.68 scoring average. She has shot eight rounds at par or under. The Somerset, Kentucky native has seven top-10 finishes in 10 events this season. She was chosen as the adidas® Ohio Valley Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week five times in 2017-18.
Owens is second on the team, and 10th in the league, with a 77.25 stroke average. The Crab Orchard, Kentucky native had two top-10 finishes in 2017-18 and played four rounds at par or under. Owens was chosen as the adidas® OVC Co-Golfer of the Week after finishing tied for first among 70 players at the Idle Hour Collegiate Championship on Oct. 31.
Lindahl sports a 77.61 stroke average, the 12th-best in the conference. The Ulricehamn, Sweden native finished in the top-10 twice this season, including a tie for third at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate on March 16.
Kristinsdottir has a 77.79 stroke average, which ranks 15th in the OVC. The freshman turned in four top-10 performances in nine events, three of which were top-5 finishes. In March, the Reykjavik, Iceland native placed first at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate.
