The Eastern Kentucky University soccer team fell to No. 24 Louisville, 5-1, on Sunday night at Lynn Stadium.
Louisville (6-1) took a 3-0 lead into halftime following goals in the 18th, 24th and 44th minutes.
Maisie Whitsett scored two second-half goals to seal it for the Cardinals.
EKU’s (4-4) lone goal came from senior Idalys Rea, whose third score of the year came in the 52nd minute when she dribbled into the box and buried a shot into the upper right corner.
EKU was outshot on the night, 21-4. Junior Erin Torrence led the Colonels with two shots in the game. Senior Monica Rios also added a shot.
Freshman goalkeeper Zoe Aguirre made a career-have eight saves in the loss.
EKU will open Ohio Valley Conference action next weekend when SIUE (Friday) and Eastern Illinois (Sunday) visit Richmond.
