Southern Indiana scored twice inside the final 10 minutes to dash the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament hopes of the Bellarmine University men’s soccer team as the Screaming Eagles rallied to beat the visiting Knights 2-1 on Wednesday night.

Bellarmine finished the season 6-8-4 overall and 5-7-3 in the GLVC. Southern Indiana (12-2-3, 10-2-3) locked up the third seed in the GLVC Tournament.

Nathan Jones scored the final goal of the season for the Knights. The junior midfielder netted his fourth goal of the season in the 24th minute off an assist from freshman midfielder Donald Aviles.

Bellarmine and USI were even at four shots apiece at halftime, but the Screaming Eagles controlled the second half and outshot the Knights 11-3 after the intermission.

USI broke through when Justin Brooks scored in the 81st minute. Pedro Castro then tallied the game-winner with less than two minutes remaining.

Bellarmine sophomore goalkeeper Zach Pogue smothered a USI penalty kick in the first half.
