Eastern Kentucky UniversityEastern Kentucky University junior All-American Charlotte Imer has been named the Ohio Valley Conference Female Cross Country Runner of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday.

Imer defeated 44 runners to win the Morehead State Eagle Opener on Friday, covering the 5K course at Old Sunnybrook Golf Course in 17:17.1.

The native of Melbourne, Australia defeated her nearest competitor – Kentucky All-American Katy Kunc – by nearly 20 seconds. Imer’s performance helped lead EKU – ranked No. 6 in the NCAA Southeast Region – to a first-place finish at the meet, including a win over Kentucky, which came in ranked No. 4 in the Southeast.

It is the latest in a long list of accolades for Imer, who was a two-time All-American and the OVC Cross Country and Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year in 2016-17.

Imer and the Colonels return to action this Saturday, September 9, at the Bluegrass Invitational in Lexington.
