Kentucky State University men’s and women’s cross country turned in two individual first-place performances in the final run before the SIAC championship this weekend with the Second Annual LeMoyne-Owen College Jerry C. Johnson XC Classic.

Junior Brianna Patterson picked up her first top-10 performance of the season with a first-place finish in the women’s 5k run, while junior Daphene Brown followed up with a second-place finish.

As a team, the Thorobrettes had five competitors finish in the top five, including freshman Erica Jones and senior Shalbereyl Thomas. All four finishes added up to KSU capturing its first-place finish as a team for the first-time in 2017.

On the men’s side, junior Cameron Galloway brought home his first collegiate first place finish in the men’s 8k. It marked the first-time Galloway finished under 28 minutes with a time of 23:54.0 for a new personal best.
