Jabreuna Brimlett of the Murray State women’s track and field team has been named an adidas Ohio Valley Conference Athlete of the Week, the league office announced on Wednesday.

“JB ran well on Friday at Texas Relays, but she wanted a little more. Going into Texas State on Saturday we had two goals in mind for JB. Have clean crisp passes in the 4×100 and to put down a mark in the 100H that we thought would qualify for first rounds down in Tampa. She did her part to accomplish both as well as coming away with a win in the 100H,” said head coach Adam Kiesler.

Brimlett took first place in the 100-meter hurdles at the Texas State Bobcat Invitational last week, where she finished with a time of 13.37. Her time of 13.37 was .07 seconds off of the school record and currently stands as the fastest time in the OVC.

She also took part in the 4 x 100 relay, where she competed with Norma Abdur-Rafia, Tamdra Lawrence, and Daijah White to finish second with a time of 45.60. That time stands as the fastest in the OVC as well as a new school record.

Murray State next competes at the Austin Peay Invitational on Saturday, April 14.
