Eastern Kentucky University junior Haley Yost just missed on a trip to the NCAA Championships, finishing 17th in the quarterfinals of the women’s 1,500 meters on the final day of the NCAA East Preliminaries Saturday at USF Track & Field Stadium.

The top-12 finishers advanced to the NCAA Championships at Historic Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.

Yost clocked a time of 4:26.3.

The native of New Tripoli, Pennsylvania advanced to the quarterfinals by finishing fourth in her heat in Thursday’s first round with a time of 4:20.6.

The race marks the end of a stellar season for Yost. In the fall, she helped lead the EKU women’s cross country team to its first-ever berth in the NCAA Championshipsl. She then ran a personal-best time of 4:20.0 in the 1,500 meters on May 5 at the Kentucky Relays.

Senior Jamaine Coleman is the lone Colonel to qualify for the NCAA Championships. The native of Preston, England will represent EKU in the men’s 3,000-meter steeplechase for the second consecutive year.
