The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its preseason volleyball honors on Tuesday afternoon, and slotted Kentucky State University at the No. 2 spot in the West Division.

In 2016, KSU finished with an overall record of 22-18, and a conference record of 13-4. The Thorobrettes notched their third SIAC tournament title in four years and graduated eight key players from last year’s squad.

With the arrival of head coach Katrina English in May, KSU will begin a new era within the SIAC.

“This program lost a lot from last season,” said English. “It’s the reason we didn’t have a player on the all-conference preseason team. But, we have picked up some big-time recruits who will be difference makers for us this year, and you add a talented freshman class to the mix, we’ll be ready.”

The Thorobrettes will begin play on Sept. 5 at Midway University followed by the Kentucky Wesleyan Tournament spanning Sept. 9-10. The first home match of the season and the debut of coach English’s squad will take place on Sept. 10 at 6 pm against Georgetown College.
