Kentucky State University traveled to Lewis University to play in a tri-match on Saturday.

The Thorobrettes (4-4) lost both contests on the day as they fell to #3 Lewis University (10-1) and #25 Rockhurst University (8-3).

KSU will host the University of Indianapolis on Tuesday at the Exum Center with the first serve scheduled for 6 pm ET.

KSU struggled to find their rhythm early dropping the first set 25-10 the Flyers. The Thorobrettes found the second set tough going as well as they went down 25-15. However, they did find their way a little more in the third set as LU had to battle to win 25-22 and take the victory.

Sophomore setter Hannah Smyers led the way in assists with 17, junior middle blocker Brooke Moore had eight digs in the match while both junior middle Landri Greathouse and freshman outside hitter Makayla Martin registered six kills each.

In the second match of the day KSU fell to another ranked team by the same score, 3-0.

The Lady Hawks jumped out to take the first set with a 25-11 scoreline. The Thorobrettes’ young squad failed to make any real impact in either of the next two sets as they lost those 25-9 and 25-12 to lose the match, 3-0.

Freshman libero Gabriella Garcia registered 10 digs against the Lady Hawks while Smyers again led the way with nine assists. Freshman outside hitter Robin Poole claimed eight kills in the match.
