The Adidas 3 stripes Alliance Cardinal Memorial Day tournament was held at Mid America and Hoops this past weekend. Here are my thoughts on the weekend.
1. The competition was terrific and the Kentucky teams played well.
2. Some studs this weekend were Kel Stotts, Deandre Dishman, Isaiah Tisdale, Kyran Jones, Mason Faulkner. Perry Ayers, Andy Flood, Alex Cook & the Duncan twins from Ballard. So many I can’t name them all. I love our Kentucky kids and I wish all the best.
3. EG10 was the favorite and won the 17U group over a tough Team Manimal.
4. Charlotte Court lost to a good DROSE team and had two turnovers in last 30 seconds to lose 71-69.
5. It was great to see both the girls and boys play in the same facility.
6. Coaches were happy with the tour out and even though it wasn’t a tourney filled with scouts or coaches, the kids still have all.
7. Lastly I was amazed by how many kids that have switched teams. I understand certain programs aren’t the best fit but it’s hard to keep up with them.
8. Kids should stay with teams unless something occurs that isn’t worth going back. Don’t quit anything you do or it will become a habit!
