Eastern Kentucky MBB Basketball Takes Down Ball State

JaVontae Hawkins Ball State was led by Ryan Weber’s 19 points, most in the first half and Franko House added 17 for the Cardinals regained the lead and stretched it to 7, 57-50 with 13 minutes remaining in the second half. Babb-Harrison’s back to back 3’s and sophomore Paul Jackson’s drive and layup gave EKU a 61-60 lead at the 10:45 mark. The Colonels never looked back after Jackson’s layup that was part of a 27-5 run that eventually gave the Colonels a 15-point advantage, 77-62, with 5:41 to play.

Unselfish play, excellent guard play, balanced scoring, forced turnovers, converted free throws, and timely buckets were keys to EKU’S second victory of the season. EKU shot 57 percent (26-of-46) from the field. The Colonels also shot 11-of-22 (50 percent) from behind the arc. EKU dished out 14 assists in Friday’s win.

The Colonels will be back in action Saturday as they take on the South Carolina State Bulldogs. Tipoff will be at 2 p.m. ET.
