Bellermine’s Troutman Earns 2nd GLVC Player of the Wk Accolade of Season

Bellarmine University junior guard Rusty Troutman has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week in men’s basketball, it was announced by the league office Monday.

Facing No. 11 Lincoln Memorial on Saturday, Troutman netted a career-high 34 points to help the 17th-ranked Knights to a 98-84 upset over the Railsplitters, who entered the game on a 10-game winning streak.

Troutman finished the day 10-of-15 (.667) from the floor and 3-of-6 (.500) from beyond the arc to lead Bellarmine past the defending champions of the South Atlantic Conference.

Not only did the Mt. Washington, Kentucky, native fill it up offensively, he delivered on the defensive end of the floor as well, hauling in a game-high eight defensive rebounds as well as blocking a shot and grabbing a steal.

With the new career high, Troutman upped his season scoring average to 21.5 points per game, which ranks second in the GLVC.

Troutman earns his second career weekly selection as he was first honored with the season’s first award on Nov. 16, 2015.
