UKs Camacho-Quinn Named USTFCCCA SE Track Athlete of the Year

Kentucky track and field freshman Jasmine Camacho-Quinn was named Southeast Region Track Athlete of the Year and head coach Edrick Floréal repeated as Southeast Women’s Coach of the Year, the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced on Monday.
Camacho-Quinn, a redshirt freshman from North Charleston, South Carolina, won the Southeastern Conference title in the 100-meter hurdles and took third as part of the Wildcat 4×100m relay.
She advanced to the NCAA Championships in the 100m, 200m, and 4×100m relay. She set a Kentucky freshman record with her season-best, 12.69 hurdle run.
A Wildcat hurdler has now won southeast track athlete of the year three years in a row as Kendra Harrison earned the honor the past two years.
Floréal, in his fourth year at Kentucky, qualified 17 Wildcats for the NCAA’s final site in Eugene, the most among squads from the East region.
Kentucky, now ranked No. 2, had its first No. 1 ranking in school history earlier in the season.
He led UK to a third-place at the SEC Championships for the second year in a row where they won three SEC individual titles.
Floréal earned the same award last season a week before leading the Wildcats to a national runner-up finish. He was named Southeast Coach of the Year for the 2014 indoor season as well.
