Kentucky track and field’s Jasmine Camacho-Quinn was named the Southeastern Conference Outdoor Freshman Outdoor Runner of the Year by the league office on Wednesday.
Camacho-Quinn won the SEC title in the 100-meter hurdles in a personal record time of 12.69. That time was the second fastest in meet history (UK’s Keni Harrison won in 12.50 in 2015).
She also ran on Kentucky’s SEC bronze-medal 4×100-meter and fourth-place 4×400-meter relay teams.
Camacho-Quinn became the first SEC freshman to win the 100m hurdles since Jasmine Stowers (LSU) in 2011.
Camacho-Quinn qualified for the NCAA Championships, which will take place next week in Eugene, Oregon, in the 100m hurdles, 200m and 4x100m relay.
