Kentucky Football’s Jon Toth Accepts Reese’s Senior Bowl Invitation

University of Kentucky senior center Jon Toth, pronounced TOETH (long “o” sound), has accepted an invitation to play in the 2017 Reese’s Senior Bowl.
Toth, who hails from Indianapolis, is considered one of the top centers in college football for the second straight season. The 6-foot-5, 310-pound senior, has played in 48 career games with a nation-high 47 consecutive starts. Last season, he helped UK’s four-man running back rotation collect 1,855 yards. This season the Cats’ running game is averaging a remarkable 241.2 yards per game, the best mark in 40 years and 5.5 yards per rushing attempt, on track to be a school record. Toth blocks for two players who have rushed for more than 1,000 yards this season in Stanley “Boom” Williams and Benny Snell Jr. Williams is averaging 7.1 yards per carry, on pace to be a school record, and Snell has broken UK freshman records for most rushing yards, most total touchdowns, most rushing touchdowns and most 100-yard games.
Off the field, Toth is a three-time SEC academic honor roll member and is on track to graduate in December with a degree in mechanical engineering. He is a nominee for the National Football Foundation’s Scholar-Athlete Award, is an All-America and All-Southeastern Conference candidate and is on the watch list for the Rimington Trophy, given annually to the nation’s most outstanding center.
The Reese’s Senior Bowl invites the top 110 seniors and fourth-year junior graduates to participate in its practices, interview sessions and game. They will begin practices on Jan. 28 and the 68th annual game will kick off at 1:30 CT/2:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017 at the Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Ala. ESPN2 and the NFL Network will broadcast live from the practices and the contest will be nationally-televised on the NFL Network.
