The University of Louisville football team picked up its sixth nine-win season under head coach Bobby Petrino this season and had a number of on-the-field accomplishments. With all the on-the-field achievements, the Cardinals also saw a number of academic accomplishments last fall.
The Cardinals had one student-athlete earn a perfect 4.0 grade-point average and 36 student-athletes were named to the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll for those earning a 3.0 GPA or better for the semester, including Heisman Trophy winner Lamar Jackson.
A total of 15 players (Drew Bailey, Hunter Bowles, Alponso Carter, Josh Harvey-Clemons, Khalil Hunter, Malin Jones, Keith Kelsey, Marcus Mays, Gio Pascascio, James Quick, D’Asian Richardson, Stacy Thomas, John Stitch, Keith Towbridge and Shaq Wiggins) graduated last fall and 21 players competed in the 2016 Citrus Bowl with their degrees in hand.
When the Cardinals begin spring football in March, Bailey, Carter, Richardson, Thomas and Wiggins will be playing with their degrees in hand.
