The Eastern Kentucky University track and field team will split this weekend between three big meets – the Iowa State Classic, Indiana’s Hoosier Hills and Marshall’s Chipotle Invitational.
WHAT TO KNOW
– Juniors Charlotte Imer and Haley Yost will compete at the Iowa State Classic in Ames, Iowa. Imer will try to improve on her personal and OVC-best 16:16.05 in the 5,000 meters on Friday at around 2:00 p.m. ET. The All-American from Australia also owns the top times in the OVC in the mile (4:52.4) and 3,000 meters (9:37.32).
– Yost will run the mile on Saturday at around 1:20 p.m. Yost currently ranks No. 2 in the OVC in the mile with a time of 4:53.8, which she ran at Marshall’s Thundering Herd Invitational two weeks ago.
– Senior Amos Kosgey, juniors Jamaine Coleman and Jakob Abrahamsen, sophomores Erick Rotich and Tequan Claitt and freshman Samuel Abascal will compete at Hoosier Hills in Bloomington, Indiana on Friday.
– Abrahamsen and Rotich will run the mile. Rotich currently ranks fourth in the OVC in the event with a time of 4:12.48.
– Coleman and Abascal will compete in the 3,000 meters. Coleman is currently No. 2 in the conference in the event (8:16.72), while Abascal is 12th (8:30.02).
– Claitt will look to improve on his 6-11.75 in the high jump, which currently ranks No. 2 in the OVC.
– The remainder of the team will compete at Marshall’s Chipotle Invitational in Huntington, West Virginia on Friday and Saturday.
UP NEXT
EKU will have next weekend off in preparation for the OVC Indoor Championships, which will take place February 24-25 in Charleston, Illinois.
