University of Louisville women’s basketball’s Asia Durr and Myisha Hines-Allen were named to the Naismith Women’s College Player of the Year Top 30, the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced Thursday.
The 10 semifinalists will be announced on March 2. Currently, the Atlantic Coast Conference leads all conferences with nine players.
Durr is pacing No. 12 Louisville (20-6) in scoring, averaging 17.6 points per game. The sophomore ranks fourth nationally in 3-pointers, with 81, and is tied for sixth on the school’s single-season list in the category. She is coming off her third 30-point performance, tallying 31 at No. 7 Notre Dame, and has scored in double figures 22 times this season. She ranks 22nd nationally in total points and 45th in total field goals.
The Douglasville, Ga., native has been selected to the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award midseason list and the Wooden Award Top 25 and earned preseason all-ACC honors.
Hines-Allen, through 25 games, is averaging 12.8 points on 49.5 percent shooting and a team-leading 8.6 rebounds. She has scored in double figures 17 times this season and boasts nine double-doubles, a mark that ranks 40th nationally. She also is 40th nationally, fourth in the conference, with 215 rebounds.
The junior from Montclair, N.J., has continued to climb the school’s all-time scoring list. She ranks 12th with 1,302 points. Hines-Allen, who has connected on 139 field goals this year, has 559 in her tenure and is eight away from tying for 10th on the school’s career list.
