Sophomore Cameron Starks of Kentucky State University was named the SIAC Player of the Week by the league office on Tuesday.
Starks, a 6’1 sophomore from Alpharetta, Georgia hit .545 last week for the Thorobreds (13-25 overall, 7-5 SIAC). KSU was on the road at Miles College over the weekend where they went 1-2 against the Golden Bears. Starks played in all three games and recorded six hits including a triple, four RBI, and two runs. He was 2-for-3 at the plate in Saturday’s finale and 3-for-5 on Sunday.
Starks is one five players to play in over 35 games in 2017, and he currently leads all Thorobreds with a .361 batting average and has accumulated a .426 on-base percentage for third best on the team.
The Thorobreds will host Lane College on Apr. 14 and 15 for a three-game series in the Capitol City.
