The last two weekends of April this year are the NCAA live periods for the travel circuit. As all the shoe companies are in action for their athletes to play in front of the college coaches, the Louisville Magic dominated the Adidas Gauntlet circuit for the 16u and 17u divisions.
All of the talk in Kentucky entering the travel season has been about the newly assembled Twenty-Two Vision Adidas program which is based out of Kentucky and features the 2018 class number 2 player in Romeo Langford (New Albany, IN). Even though Twenty-Two Vision did good going 2-2, the Louisville Magic stole the show and went 4-0 on the weekend in Dallas.
Fifty – one teams from around the country participate in the Adidas Gauntlet Gold Division. After one weekend, eight teams are undefeated at 4-0 and the Louisville Magic is one. Over the weekend, the Louisville Magic recorded the following wins.
68-57 vs. Arkansas Hawks
63-43 vs. The Firm
78-65 vs. Upward Stars
76-59 vs. Showtime Ballers
Benson Lin of Wesley Christian leads the team in scoring with 11.5 points per game. Fern Creek’s Chance Moore is the only other double figure scorer getting 10.5 points per game through four games. Louisville Magic 17u big man also from Wesley Christian, Christian Lorng, was offered a scholarship by the University of Tennessee after his play. He averaged a near double – double on the weekend.
The 16u division of the Adidas Gauntlet is your traditional bracket play. The Louisville Magic 16u, like their 17u team went undefeated and took home the championship. The Magic went 5-0 in the 16u RED Division and their wins looked like:
