The Murray State women’s tennis team defeats the Colonels of Eastern Kentucky 4-3 on Saturday (April 15) at Bennie Purcell Courts.
The Racers took home the doubles point after a rally by duo of Amina Hadzic and Anja Loncarevic. The MSU duo won over their opponents 6-6, 7-4.
The other Murray State duo to win was Alina Schibol and Claire Chang who finished first with 6-2 over Laura Argente and Raquel Montalvo.
Alina Schibol gave the Racers their second point as she defeated Margaux Lacroix 7-5, 6-0.
Sara Loncarevic won her match against Sagung Putri Dwinta 6-4, 6-3.
Sara Bjork sent her match into a third set yet defeated opponent Marina Marti 3-6, 6-3, 6-1. With this win, the Racers clinched the match and a spot in the 2017 OVC tournament.
Claire Chang went to three sets but lost 6-2, 5-7, 6-7 against Viktorija Demcenkova
The Racers finish the regular season 7-11.
OVC Championship will be held this upcoming weekend in Nashville, Tennessee at the Centennial Sportsplex Tennis Center.
Murray State will play at 10:00 AM Friday (April 21) against Eastern Kentucky who will be the #3 seed. The Racers are #6 seed in the OVC tournament.
The Racers were tied with Austin Peay, but will get the #6 seed into the tournament due to their head-to-head match Wednesday where MSU won 4-3.
