LAST TIME OUT: NKU matched its win total from the 2016 season after going 1-2 against Cleveland State on April 20-21. The Vikings upended the Norse in the first day’s doubleheader, 7-5 and 4-1. NKU prevented the sweep on Saturday with a 4-2 win, which gave NKU its seventh Horizon League win of the season. Heading into the final two League series of the season, the Norse have taken at least one game off of every League opponent. UIC and Detroit Mercy are the only other teams in the League to register at least one win against every HL opponent.

SCOUTING DAYTON: The Flyers are a familiar team this season, as the Norse faced UD twice during the Georgia Classic on opening weekend. Dayton won both matchups in a pair of high-scoring affairs, 11-8 and 13-6. Overall, Dayton is 25-21 and 11-6 in A-10 competition. The Flyers are coming off a series loss to Rhode Island, winning the opener 3-2 before dropping the latter two, 5-4 and 5-2. Since the last meeting, Dayton has continued to ride the success of reigning Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Year Manda Cash and the powerful bat of Gabrielle Snyder. Cash ranks 14th in the nation in strikeouts per seven innings, at 9.1, carrying a 2.41 ERA through 136.2 innings pitched. Also an accomplished pitcher, Snyder’s batting accomplishments rank atop the Dayton stat sheet in multiple categories, as well as conference standings. The senior is batting .427 and slugging .707, ranking 14th in the nation in hits with 64 on the season.

As a team, Dayton is one of the top teams in the nation when it comes to lacing doubles. The Flyers rank second nationally, behind only Seton Hall, with 1.74 doubles per game. The team offense is also one of the best in the A-10, with the Flyers batting .299 thanks to four players batting over a .300 clip.
